ASB Underpass

ASB Underpass

The ASB Bridge Underpass serves as a critical connection point along the Riverfront Heritage Trail, providing safe passage beneath the landmark ASB Railroad Bridge operated by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. The construction of the $3 million trail link will provide trail users close access to the Missouri River, as the underpass is designed directly into the riverbank. Observation platforms allow trail users the opportunity to view the river from numerous vantage points.

The ASB Bridge Trail Underpass is one of the Riverfront Heritage Trail's most crucial linkages; the underpass will connect Richard L Berkley Riverfront Park to an exciting trail segment that meanders by the Wharf Master's Building and through the new Wetlands Ecosystem. The Town of Kansas Bridge overlooks the historic riverfront docks and the archeological site as a connection between the Riverfront Heritage Trail and the River Market.

The ASB Bridge Trail Underpass is scheduled to break ground on June 1, 2009. Both federal CMAQ and TEA funds are being used in this project, along with major funding from the Ameristar Casino.
