With 70,000 cars a year passing through the Intermodal Center at Richards-Gebaur, the partnership between Kansas City Southern and Mazda North America is the development's first success story. This International Freight Gateway helped lower transportation costs and secured the future of the Claycomo manufacturing plant and local employees.

The Port Authority oversees and manages numerous structures from the former military base. Existing leases in the hangers at Richards-Gebaur include Kingston Environmental, Midwest Research Institute and the United States Marine Corps.
