Missouri River 340
The Missouri River 340 (MR340) is the world's longest non-stop kayak and canoe river race. It starts in Kansas City at Kaw Point – where the Missouri and Kansas Rivers meet – and finishes in St. Charles, Missouri. Racers come from all over the world to test their endurance against the mighty Missouri River. The racers have exactly 88 hours to finish the 340 miles across the state. Racers must face obstacles of river traffic, wind, heat, bugs and rain.
The Port Authority hosts an event at Richard L Berkley Riverfront Park to see the canoes and kayaks paddle by at the only place where you can still see all the racers together. The Port Authority provides live music, coffee, snacks for purchase and physical fitness activities.
The race is always held during a full moon at the end of July or beginning of August. The next race date in 2010 will be August 24-27.
